"You will, in adopting this child, make the child your own. Your life will swerve to meet the child's - growing in tandem together." M.F. Greene

Today was a good day...

Today we received the long awaited, highly coveted approval to adopt an orphan. Once we notarize this wonderful piece of paper, we'll send it straight to Kate at KBS Dossier to authenticate for us. Then, if all goes well - it's the waitlist for us. Perhaps there is some symbolism here??? Waiting during Christmas??? Seems like a familiar story - perhaps the greatest story ever told.

Getting Closer

Congratulations to the Walton Family who just received their CIS letter and will be on the waitlist soon... We feel so lucky to be going through the process with other families (who happen to be in close proximity) and to experience the adoption steps at the same time. We're hopeful that we'll get to travel with these families as the adoption nears.

We too received a letter from CIS - but ours stated they needed us to send us an original form rather than a copy of a notarized letter. So, we ran to Gladney last week and put the original in the mail. Apparently CIS has always taken copies but we were the lucky ones who got to send an original this time.

Hopefully we'll be celebrating with the Waltons this week and will get to experience all the joy and anticiaption that being on the waitlist brings. It's times like this that I'm learning the art of "reframing" situations and approaching this process with gratitude and patience.

Happy Thanksgiving...

What little news I have...

Not exactly the news I wanted - I mean I was really hoping to get our approval right away of course. But, nevertheless, I guess it's news. Sure would be a great Thanksgiving if I could give thanks for receiving CIS clearance....

Mr. Treat,

You and your spouse’s prints cleared in 10/30/2007. I am working on cases who had prints the cleared on 10/16/2007. Your case should be reviewed in the next couple of weeks. Have great weekend.
